This 3 bedroom hillside home on 2 acres has the feel of a secluded cabin and all the conveniences of being near town (2 miles west of Red Lodge). Upon entering you are met with expansive views of the West Fork of Rock Creek Valley in the Beartooth Mountains through the floor to ceiling windows that compromise the entire back side of the house. Across the valley is a large elk refuge where elk can be seen grazing during the winter months. From the house you can also see deer, turkeys, and if you’re lucky, a bear or moose. The house is full of custom touches throughout that make it warm and inviting including new wood floors and carpet, beautiful photos and artwork cover the walls and there are multiple “woodsy” touches throughout. The living space on the upper levels includes the kitchen, living/dining area area, den/playroom and convenient powder room. The large living dining area has plenty of comfortable seating and offers opportunities to cozy up to a warm fire in the gas fueled “wood” stove. The kitchen is fully stocked including full-sized appliances, a large pantry and multiple kitchen “gadgets”. There is plentiful tableware including a set of “moose” dishes that make family/group eating fun and inviting. The den/playroom is separated from the main living room with French doors which allows kids to enjoy their stay while the adults enjoy the quiet. This room also offers beautiful mountain views from a large L-shaped sleeper sofa that can be made into a queen-sized bed. (There are curtains that can be closed over the French doors to create an additional bedroom.) A second seating area with couch and love seat includes a flat screen 32" TV with cable and DVD/VCR player. A door from the dining area provides access to the small upper deck with seating for four and a 3 burner gas grill. The lower level includes 3 bedrooms and a full-sized bath and tucked away laundry area. Each bedroom has floor to ceiling windows that can be left open for views of the moon and stars at night and beautiful sunrises in the morning, or covered with blinds for those who choose to sleep in. Each bedroom has a door that allows access to the large outside patio. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed with en-suite bath and large, walk-in closet. The second and third bedrooms each have queen-sized beds with large closets and dressers available for storage. " An Amazing Get-A-Way This property was more than what we could have imagined. It is so close to the beautiful city of Red Lodge, the ski resort and has space not crowded out by neighbors. The property has an incredible vista of the Beartooth Mountains and the valley. The house was very clean, organized and had all the accommodations (laundry, dishwasher, hot tub etc.). The customer service was great and they called on our second day to see if we needed anything and make sure things were going well. Anyone looking for a great place to escape should stay here. Incredible overall experience."

"Relaxation at its best! We chose to stay at Elk Mountain over Thanksgiving this year. The house was perfect for our group of 6...even though it could easily accommodate many more people! We only had three negative issues. One was the hot tub which did not heat and had to be fixed, but they came as soon as I called. Another was the oven, which billowed black smoke when we baked cookies the first night...however, it burned off and was no longer a problem. Finally, the toilet in the 1/2 bath ran constantly and had to be fixed over and over again. Since my husband kept fixing it, I didn't want to bother the rental agency about the repair over the holidays, but I'm sure they would have come if I had called. It was such a quiet location...great for sleeping, the kitchen was extremely well stocked with all the dishes, gadgets, etc we needed, and we got to see deer in the mornings and evenings out the bank of windows that spanned the entire living and dining area...gorgeous view!!! In spite of our ""minor"" problems, it was well worth it and we would most definitely stay here again. The rental agency was great to deal with as well. "

"Highly comfortable, fantastic views, and very close to town This house is wonderful! Well-stocked, very clean, fantastic setting and views, quiet and private, exceedingly comfortable, and located just a couple of driving minutes from Red Lodge. Nice upper deck, lower concrete deck area easily accessible from the three bedrooms, and 'natural open space' lawn area. The only thing not totally perfect is that the three bedrooms (one with a master bath and the other two sharing a bath) are all located right next to each other, so a bit close for total privacy. While in town, we checked the locations of several other rentals we had considered, and easily concluded that we had definitely chosen the best one in terms of setting and views. Will definitely want to stay here again on any future visit! "

"Fantastic! We had such a good time during our stay at Elk Mountain - the house is beautifully decorated, very comfortable and the view is wonderful. Our family ran the 5k Charity Run which was excellent. We would love to come back another time - maybe during the ski season. "

"Can't wait to return My wife and I always looked forward to when our sons were older, we could take them with their spouses on a family ski trip. However, ski trips have become exceedingly expensive. However, Red Lodge is the answer as well as Elk Mountain. We couldn't have asked for better accommodations and ski vacation. The town of Red Lodge is quaint, homey and exactly what we've been looking for, not the high end glitz of the big resorts. Red Lodge Mountain skiing is comparable to anywhere else we've skied (including Salt lake City, Steamboat Springs, Keystone, Winter Park and Bridger Bowl). We didn't hit the best time for snow as only half the mountain was open but it was still fantastic. Incredible terrain, no lift lines and you can't beat $38 lift tickets. By far the friendliest locals we've ever met. We rented Elk Mountain for the 7 of us. What a treat. The owners went out of there way to make the house a home. The kitchen was incredibly stocked with every imaginable utensil and gadget with new appliances. The beds were the best. The house is gorgeous and the view the most incredible of all. We had deer and turkeys within 10 feet of the windows with elk on the far hill side. Renting through AAA Rentals was also flawless. Staff was responsive and wonderful. "

"Everything was as advertised Had a great time in Red Lodge during the Christmas holidays. Went cross-country skiing one day followed by down hill the next. The Elk Mountain home was perfect for us. Enjoyed playing games at the table, hot tubbing, and enjoying some home cooking all with the majestic mountains in the background. Would do it again all over again. "

"Ski Trip For the previous 3 years, my wife and I have been going on a ski trip with friends to the Black Hills. This year we decided to go out to Montana to get a little more terrain. After a lot of research, I found this place to rent. Our criteria was it needed a hot tub and at least 2 bathrooms. We walked in and saw the entire west wall of the cabin was windows with amazing views of the valley. Not all the lights worked but we were fine with that and made due. The hot tub was warm and had no issues. Would have been nice to get the second vehicle in the garage, however it didn't hurt anything. We are looking into taking the trip back out there this coming season (2016) and would really like to stay here again. "

"Elk Mountain The view was fantastic and the house was very well equipped. Red Lodge was a cute town with plenty to do and proved to be a good home base for some of our other activities. We liked the house so much we changed our plans to stay an extra night. AAA Rental was very efficient. Would have liked to have a few more fans. "

"Blessed! We enjoyed everything about this rental home...the view is amazing...deer and elk to be seen across the valley, no neighbors right beside you, great patio and grill, cozy bedrooms, nice bathrooms, incredible kitchen and dining room, and the sitting areas were fantastic. The only thing that wasn't perfect was the hot tub being a bit too small for the four of us. Highly recommend this rental home. You will not be disappointed! "

"Wonderful Cabin, Beautiful View! Elk Mountain was a fantastic choice for our group! Not only is it located on Ski Run Rd, which is the road to Red Lodge Mountain, but it is perfect for 3 couples! It has 3 bedrooms in the daylight basement that each have a patio access door that leads right to the hot tub, a fully stocked kitchen (including spices, tin foil and zip lock bags, etc) and lots of room! We loved it! The view was incredible! The entire back wall of the house is windows, including the bedrooms downstairs. We loved it! We will definitely be staying here again next year! Thank you to the Christensen's, the owners! "

"Great place to get away! My wife and I have been going on a ski vacation for the last 7 years with a few other couples. This year we decided on Red Lodge. This place was fantastic with the location close to the mountain but easy drive to town. Amazing views out the full windows in the back. Cabin was stocked with everything you could need. Light above the dining table was not working but I am sure it was fixed right away Tuesday morning (Monday was a holiday). Definitely recommend this place and next time in Red Lodge we will stay here again. "

"LovIin it in the Beartooth Mountains Nice home with a great view of the absaroka's. We had a great time and the service (checking the PH in the hot tube, and the young lady that did this, also worked hard to find us a fan because the fan at the house had no cord). It would seem that for the price, some things should be updated, i.e. the Kitchen appliances and the cover over a very marginal barbque was in shreds and held together by some string. The home was very clean & neat which made it very comfortable. We would have preferred to be on Rock Creek but, my children didn't confirm their visit until all those accommodations were gone. Response Elk Mountain has since got a brand new stainless barbque and many new appliances...with more to come! "
